  • Larsen & Toubro bags order worth Rs 55,000 crore
    Multinational conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has bagged orders worth up to Rs 55,000 crore in July (so far). According to the company's exchange filings, the cumulative value of these orders ranges between Rs 37,500 crore and Rs 55,000 crore, based on L&T's order value classification.

    L&T's Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore division secured a major order from Kuwait Oil Company, valued between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore. In a consortium with Hitachi Energy, the company also won a 2 GW offshore wind programme worth Rs 15,000 crore.

    The company's Metals and Minerals business secured a comprehensive 18 MTPA iron ore handling plant package in Chhattisgarh, valued between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore. Meanwhile, L&T Heavy Engineering bagged orders worth Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore.

    Additionally, the Commercial Buildings & Factories business secured an order valued between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore for the construction of 26 high-rise residential towers in Mumbai, each standing 120 metres tall.
  • Lancaster University planning to setup campus in Bengaluru
    United Kingdom's renowned public research university, Lancaster University, will open its first Indian campus in Bengaluru. Further, the university is planning to set up another campus at Karnataka's proposed Knowledge, Wellbeing and Innovation (KWIN) city. A delegation of the University met the Government of Karnataka, and the information was shared by the Minister of Large and Medium Scale Industries excluding Sugar of Karnataka, M B Patil.  As per the minister, the Bengaluru campus will initially offer degree programmes in business, management and computing, with the curriculum and academic standards aligned with those of the university's UK campus. 
  • Teen Hath Naka project: Deputy CM Shinde launches proejct worth Rs 200 crore
    Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has launched the Teen Hath Naka Traffic Improvement Project, worth Rs 200 crore. The project aims to decongest one of Asia's busiest traffic junctions and improve mobility across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). It is expected to be completed within 18 months. The project will make four of the seven major traffic movements at Teen Hath Naka signal-free, significantly reducing travel time and easing traffic congestion.
  • Hindustan Zinc chalks out capex worth Rs 25,000 crore
    Vedanta Group firm Hindustan Zinc has chalked out a capital expenditure (CAPEX) worth Rs 25,000 crore. The investment will fuel the expansion of refined zinc and lead capacity, targeting 2 million tonnes annually by FY30. The firm will commence the next phase of its refined metal capacity expansion, which will involve setting up over 600 thousand tonnes per annum (ktpa) of additional zinc and lead smelting capacity. It is already investing around 12,000 crore to expand its existing 1,144 ktpa refined metal capacity by an additional 250 ktpa, with an increase in the capacity of the integrated zinc smelter at Debari, Rajasthan. Investment will also cover expansion of mined metal capacity from the existing 1,180 ktpa to 1,510 ktpa across mines. It is expected to be completed by the second quarter of FY29.
  • JSW Energy chalks out capex worth Rs 20,000 crore
    Flagship firm of JSW Group, JSW Energy, has chalked out a capex (capital expenditure plan) worth Rs 20,000 crore for FY27. The firm is building an execution roadmap spanning thermal power, renewable energy, pumped hydro storage, and upcoming nuclear opportunities. As per updates from ET, JSW Energy will deploy Rs 6,000 crore from internal free cash flows, Rs 7,000 crore from recently raised funds, and Rs 7,000 crore through debt financing to execute the planned expenditure.  The key projects will be doubling of Mahanadi plant capacity from 1.8 GW to 3.6 GW, expecting its first 600 MW unit by the third or fourth quarter of FY28, followed by two more 600 MW units by FY29.
